Halloween Disco

WhatsApp Image 2024-09-17 at 9.10.30 AM

Friday November 1

Year 0-3 5:00pm-6:00pm
Year 4-6 6:30pm-7:30pm

Tickets are $5 and go on sale via mykindo.co.nz in the first week of term 4 on Friday 18th October.

We hear the kids are pretty excited about the prizes for ‘creative costumes’ and ‘best dance moves’.

  • Water and a snack will be supplied to the children.
  • A friendly reminder that for security of our young dancers, parents are asked to remain outside the hall during the disco. We will ask you to enter to collect your child at the end. For safety, children will need an adult with them to exit the hall after their dance, so please arrange for someone to collect your child.

Tickets
Ticket will go home before the event on Wednesday 30th, so please check your child/ren’s school bags. Ticket sales will close on Friday 25th.

Please bring your ticket and show it at the door to make entering the hall quicker for all (but we will have a list of names in case you forget your ticket!)

Volunteers

This is a MENPS community event run by parents and supported by the school. This event can't run without parent volunteers.  We are looking for volunteers for the harder to fill roles first. These roles are the building blocks to a successful community event and there are simply not enough PTA members to fill these role.

1) Decorators - between 1 to 3 pm on the 1st of November.
Can you help decorate the hall? We need volunteers to spare at least 1 hour to help transform our hall into a fun, Halloween themed disco.
Go though our boxes of decorations and decorate the hall as you please.

2)  After Junior Disco Clean up - Between 6 and 6:30 pm
Can you stay a bit after the Junior Disco and help clean up? This involves sweeping the floor, removing rubbish and recycling pizza boxes to get the Disco ready for the Seniors.

3) After Disco pack up / clean up - Between 7:30pm to 8 pm
Can you stay a bit after the Senior Disco and help pack up and clean up?  Perhaps you are picking up your Year 4-6 child? Your child and their friends could help clean up also. Tasks would include taking down decorations, and general clean up. The more people we have the faster the job is done!

4) Halloween Disco Committee
If you would like to help in other ways, please email Menpspta@gmail.com and let us know you are interested.

We will also call for volunteers to help during the disco. These roles are very popular and will be open to those that sign up for the above roles first.

Please follow this link and fill in your details if you can help.

Quiet space

To our year 0/1 parents

Our annual Halloween disco is one of our most popular and much anticipated event for the kids! However, we’ve observed in the past that it can be slightly overwhelming for some new entrances who never attended before, especially as it is a child only event. So, at this year’s Halloween disco we would like to offer caregivers of year 0/1 the option of purchasing an adult ticket to stay in our newly designated “quiet space”. This will essentially be an area with access to the hall that parents can hang out in and if your child needs some time out from the disco, they can come in to find you for some reassurance. Note that you will not be able to view your child from quiet space and caregivers will not be allowed to enter the hall (with exception of parent helpers) but your child can freely come in and out of the quiet space directly from hall!

Capacity is limited so please only purchase a ticket if needed and only 1 caregiver can purchase per family. We have only opened this up for year 0/1 parents - however if you have a child in an older year level that may require some support, please email menpspta@gmail.com.

End of disco procedure

disco

At the end of the disco, the children will need to remain inside the hall until collected.

End of Disco Procedure
Children will be seated in the hall on the lower section, parents will then be allowed to enter the hall to collect their children and leave.

Thanks for your patience while we ensure that each child gets home safely.
